We all know that Pokemon hates nothing more than change but is there a feasible way to rehaul the whole battle system into real time?
My only continuous gripe with the games is that i don't feel immersed when I'm battling but i do off-battle. Since the games revolve around battling Pokemon it's not something i can just brush off. It's easier said that done but nothing's impossible i guess.

A game shouldn't change genres because you don't know how to play one that is that genre, dipshit.

It's not change that's inherently bad, if so new Pokémon and new regions wouldn't do as well as the others, let alone sell more like they always do.

It's change for the sake of change, especially change for the sake of change that inherently changes a thing that's bad.

Turn-based is fine but they seriously need to speed move animations up or at least not stop the action every time the game needs to say a move was used or it missed or was super effective or whatever

I can see them trying this at some point, if they ever actually make the fabled open world 3d immersion game people have dreamed about since the beginning. I guess the best way to make it work like in the anime would be each move having a cool down time where the pokemon recover their stance after they have charged or whatever. I think a battle system like that would need them to be doing more than just standing and facing each other, which I'm looking forward to. The classic way is feeling a bit old fashioned. It's basically still just a reskin of the oldest monster fighting rpgs, they really do hate change.

Basically this. We don't need a status animation, a two second pause, a HP reduction animation, two seconds pause, slow message coming up describing the status condition that requires you to press A to load the next line, two seconds pause in order to be told that your waifumon is [BRN]. Really, just have notify indicators / popup boxes like in XI / XIV or use the lower screen to hold up that information or a message log like in PMD.
