Gen 5 introduced A LOT of powerful Pokemon that centralised the competitive metagame. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't want to see a good portion of those getting buffed.

Although, Megas for the Starters and the Pseudo should be the least they could do.

I’m sure that stopped them from giving Pseudo Legendaries, Mewtwo, Diancie, and Rayquaza (who doesn’t require a stone) Megas, as well as primal forms to Kyogre and Groudon, or give Necrozma an Ultra form.
