>>37256602The problem with the alternate evolution methods is that they're not intuitive and there's no way to reasonably figure them out by yourself. You have to check a guide or a 3rd party. I remember in gen 1 how I was excited every time I got a new evolution stone, and checked whether it would work on my party Pokemon. It was very logical -- evolution stones make some Pokemon of that type evolve.
Now? Everything can make a Pokemon evolve. Why does the Moss Rock cause evolution when the Leaf Stone does not? Why do certain items have to be held by a Pokemon AND be traded over to work? Why do certain moves cause evolution sometimes? Why does holding the 3DS upside down cause evolution, but only past level 30? It's all a load of bullshit.
