Why did they stop doing catchable event pokemons? Up until gen 4 it felt like most event pokemons had to be battled and caught. Even Arceus was meant to be battled and caught iirc. Has there even been a single one since Victini?
Don't you find it pretty unspectacular and pointless to just get a "ultra legendary super mega special one of a kind" pokemon via mail from some random guy in a Pokemon Center?

They unironically started killing them off because of Mt Coronet.
Nip Kids had too much difficulty navigating it, so they axed the Azure Flute in advance.
They also gradually realized how much more positively received the "straight-to-player" distributions were because of their instant gratification.

Just getting a free legendary through Mystery Gift is fucking lame and I wish they went back to cool events. Everything about the Deoxys encounter in ORAS was fucking rad and made me realize I missed these cool setup moments for the legendaries.

I miss the in game events, they made the mythical feel special since you had to find it, battle it, capture it! Now it's just feels like dex filler.

At least you can get them legit without physically attending a giveaway in the newer gens. Seriously, the only way 99.9% of players even saw these islands were through emulations, rom hacks, or cheats.

there are a couple of reasons for its removal
>wifi distribution makes everything easy
>no need to create new areas most players around the world will never experience
>most of them required you to be in a specific place to activate the event
>many of them were region locked thanks to japan getting legendaries and events for breathing
>everyone wants everything at once

if gen 8 adds an event legendary where you have to find it anc catch it, i can assure you the lgpe audience will claim "it is tedious" and "boring"

These points are all moot. Victini(the most recent one) was gotten via a worldwide wi-fi distribution. For the record, there were pokemons gifted straight from a guy in a pokemart earlier as well. They were just as impossible to get outside of Japan. This is not a valid reason for its removal.
