Nice try OP but the cutscenes are the railroading you get in almost every city that are both tedious and unavoidable where the NPC forces you into a conversation of exposition you didn’t need.

Actually, the mandatory cutscenes in SM take up roughly 2 and a half hours of playtime, assuming you mash as fast as you can. USUM has around 3 and a half hours instead.

There aren't many CINEMATICS, per se, but the amount of gameplay interruptions, mostly heralded by the flag marker on the map and a fade-out, are astonishingly massive.

The series did maintain quality for a while but there was an objective dip around gen vi time. We thought XY was so mediocre because GF had to dip their toes into 3D so its mediocrity was kind of accepted, but then ORAS came out and we pretty much thought we were fucked, then SM came out and all was absolutely lost. Unplayable garbage, it’s hard to even call it a game. No exaggeration.

Gen 6 got by on really accessible breeding, and great online play in general. The lack of backward compatibility for the first few months meant everyone started on the same page. I've tried to go back and replay the games, but they're really not worth it now after the newness has worn off.
