Pokemon hit rock bottom in Gen 6, and they seem to be trying something new in their more recent games. SM was a step in the right direction, and LGPE had some great changes despite it being fisher price Pokemon. I'm looking forward to what they have in store for us in Gen 8.

I Hope they make more than two pokemon of each type. And I've noticed a lot of two stage pokemon instead of three stage. Pokemon that don't evolve are on the rise too.

I've been thinking Game Freak are going to knock Gen VIII out of the park since well before we knew LGEP was being released this year. LGEP's improvements, coupled with the plain fact they took an extra year to get this out is making me even more confident it's going to sit a LOT of fuckers on their holes.

How about a game where we only have a single box-cover trio, ONE event-only mon, ONE trio akin to the birds/beasts/regis, and that's it for legendaries?
How about we already have fucking enough generic regional rodents/birds/bugs/cats and don't include blatant fillermons?

I'd be okay with only having 60-70 new pokemon if those pokemon were ACTUALLY well designed instead of only having a handful of options once the "muh tradition" shit was factored out.

I wouldn't even count fossilmons the way I count all the "obligatory trash filler" like rodents/birds/etc. Because "fossil" is just an overall theme. There's a wide variety of designs for fossile pokemon, from anemone to trilobite to tyrannosaurus to nautilus to sea turtle, etc.
It's not like we get 2 fossils every generation and every single time it's another trilobite pokemon gen after gen. Because that's the way it is with rodents, birds, etc.

Also I forgot "obligatory furbait shillmon" like lucario/zoroark/etc

Unlike you, I actually think Gen 6 was entirely the right direction. I don't think the games were particularly good, but I think they were a really good building block

Sadly they went the wrong way after tho..

What makes you say that? Gen 6 seems like it was perfectly in line with the direction we later saw in Gen 7. Just that Gen 7 did what Gen 6 did but even worst. Gen 6 had the shitty hand-holding, the brainless (lack of) difficulty, the over-the-top exposition dumps and unskippable tutorials, the dumbed down map design, and so on. These were all things that Gen 7 also did, except it went even harder. But the origins were already there in Gen 6.

cautiously optimistic. Unlike what seems to be most of /vp/ - though that is ofc probably and simply the screeching minority - I enjoyed Gen 7 well-enough. But ofc there were parts to it that made it not only difficult to enjoy but near impossiple to replay. That decline in replayability is what I'm most concerned about, since it's becoming increasingly prominent. Besides that, I didn't hate the game's other features/changes, though I didn't necessarily love their execution (Trials, for instance).
