Not just remakes, but remakes that pander heavily to the West, who's apeshit for Kanto and only Kanto while Japan prefers remakes that actually add something new, and Meltan doesn't really warrant the cost to them.
That aside, the games actually saw a rise in profits for Gen 7 thanks to GO, although I suspect things will normalize later in Gen 9 once people get over Gen 8's inevitable marketing tactics of "It's Pokemon! IN HIGH DEFINITION! Look at how HUGE THIS Pokemon is and how TINY THAT Pokemon is! We haven't ever done THIS before in Core Pokemon Titles!" that'll very obviously pull people in.
