Take me for example, I make it a policy to use a full party, never do wild pokemon grinding, or use exp share. Because of this, I'm going experience a level of resistance from a pokemon game that is different compared to other players who induge in in-grass grinding, small party, and exp share.
So with that out of the way, gen 2 is the hardest pokemon game for me due to a weak spread and level curve from npc trainers. Because of this you have to be very careful how you construct your party since by the time you get to the league your pokemon will be in the mid 30s.
For example, if i'm playing gsc, I pretty much have to run with Kadabra and Umbreon on my team. In the remakes, its Lapras and Umbreon. I kinda dislike that you're constrained on the type of teams you want to run if you want to play gen 2 without grinding.
