To begin, what killed Pokemon is the character on the screen getting bigger. Now every map is a hallway with barely any movement and no exploration where in the old games even simple routes were interesting and had more options for layouts, which also made navigation easy as well, all the building’s doors facing the same way, 1/2 of the town encompassed in one screen, one entire screen of puzzles, etc. Pokemon is cancer now and that is why. The big ass Skyrim guy going down hallways with constant “cutscenes” that tell you literal shit like “walk forward three more shit, then I’ll stop you again to tell you to keep walking down the same hallway!”

to clairify, ORAS isn’t a huge defender of the latter part of my rant, that’s SM although ORAS did crank up the cutscenes over Emerald for no reason but. But The route with May above the route with Brendan and May with the Beautifly. Look at how cramped routes are these days, point-A to point-B with two trainers and nothing else in between compared to huge fields and routes, which was kinda like DnD levels of immersion with random encounters, like although you’re like 1/10 body lengths of the route, the environment still seemed huge, like a real world. Unlike post gen v shit that’s hallways, SM is the worst offender of any of the shit I’ve bitched about so far though. Pokemon should look akin to Link to the Past on 3DS. Would be dope. And no uncecesarry cutscenes.
