It would be a lot shittier if it was bug flying. Pure bug is the better defensive typing, It resists earthquake, and volbeat should be full on defensive anyways, so that earthquake should have just tickled you at best.

Bug electric would have been cool too though, illumise could be pure bug to differentiate the two more.

Real talk, the reason Gyarados isn't Water/Dragon is because that's really good typing (especially back in the day) and it would've been OP as fuck. They limited the dragon typing to only the Dragonite line for a reason.

However, the thing that always pissed me off about Gyara's typing is that it doesn't learn any motherfucking flying attacks. It's ridiculous that people will resort to using Bounce of all things.
