Looking past the fact that 6 of the reps are gen 1, I HATE Jigglypuff as a rep who sticks out like a sore thumb in how unneeded a rep she is. With her popularity greatly diminished since the 00s, her only safety net from ever being dropped remains the fact that she's part of the original 12 where she sticks out even further for being the only one of that 12 without her own game.
The starters should honestly never have been reps despite how shilled they were in their gen since they're bound to lose their momentum come the next gen anyway. Greninja was hyped as fuck in gen 6, no one gives near as much of a fuck in gen 7. Unlike greninja however, Inceneroar was a COMPLETE botch as they picked him to be the charizard of gen 7 while the most popular final form became Primarina among fans. A single starter being playable is ridiculous when the two remaining get left in the dark. Terrible choices and come gen 8, their inclusion will be even more questionable. Pokemon trainer is a step in the right direction when in comes to including all starters but still loses points for staying with one specific set to be used.
Pichu is a joke, there are better ones to be told in a franchise of nearly 1000 possible reps.
Of all the Pokemon reps in this game, I feel the only ones who fully deserve inclusion are Pikachu, Lucario, and Mewtwo as all three are massively popular, have plot significance in games, and arent part of a set that will leave fans of the other parts in the dark.
