Had he confessed not only would his message have been lost (since the others would be like "oh no how bad, but cool, we're out) but it would have contradicted what he was trying to show to the others. He fought for his own life so the others could learn, and once he saw their regained determination he stopped arguing against them. That's why he says something like "Good! Now finish this already!" while smiling, he had achieved his goal. I don't remember what exactly it was, but one of Fuyuhiko's and Akane's statements couldn't even be proved, they had no evidence, and yet he accepted it nonetheless. He also made sure everyone knew he and Nekomaru had a clean fight, that it was all for everyone's sake.
