Most people think he's really fine with which characters are assist trophies and spirits or just missing completely, but that's just not the case. He wanted to add Takamaru, he wanted to add Geno, he wanted to add Banjo, fuck he even considered Bond one point. If people actually read his collums, watched some interviews or even some VODs he ocassionally uploads they'd how broad of a view of vidya he has. The thing that will always clash with his own wants will always be recency, if the characters rights are accessible and the franchise the character is from though. Joker is really one of the only times Sakurai truly got something seemingly impossible that he is personally invested into.
