I keep seeing people saying that Glaceon is a terrible mon to use in competitive play. How true is this? Is it also bad in the PTCG? I hate when people talk shit about him since he’s my favorite Eeveelution ;_;

Don't worry, she is mu fav Eeveelution too. Its not BAD, per se. It has a niche. Its just not OU, or UU, viable which causes people to say it is shit. Also doesnt help that GF does not like giving Eeveelutions coverage outside of moves like Shadow Ball Just use whatever you like and have fun. I use Wigglytuff in every gen, and I try and make it work.

Shes my fav mon ^^ aight even though I dont know shit imma say what I think. Her stats dont go well with her typing, meaning that it doesnt matter she has high defense if she resists nothing but ice. Also as >>37283148 has said, she learns pretty much nothing outside ice moves. That being said shes fun to play, just get a vanilluxe or something and abuse blizzard and snow cloak.

It looks like he has a deformed jellyfish attached on his forehead. I really like his design otherwise, though, especially the coloring. Stats look good to me but I don't know anything about competitive so I can't give a proper answer to that.

Bad. Defensively, Mono Ice has many weaknesses and no resistances (unless you really want to count resistance to itself). Offensively, it's okay.
>Abilities
Underwhelming. Both are literally useless without Hail. So you either put Hail on it or support it with team members. Or just pretend we are in gen 1/2.
>Stat Distribution
Really problematic. It is slow so it can't use its huge Special Attack as a sweeper. It has good bulk but this typing negates its chances to tank (and low HP means that Wish is bad).
>Movepool
Puke-worthy. Since it can't tank, it needs to use its lacking offensive movepool. Glaceon, besides its STABs, only gets Shadow Ball and Hidden Power.

Overall, it's a pretty bad Pokemon which needs either Choice Scarf or Choice Specs to work. Stick to in-game with this one or use it in low tiers.

True but none of those are good defensively, which is the whole problem with ice type. Gamefreak keeps taking a type that is only useful as a sweeper and keeps making bulky slow ice mons instead. The last time an ice type was able to wall anything at all was Gen 3 regice.

That's why Weavile is good. Because it's basically the one time GF made a fast offensive ice sweeper

Its ability shuts off the abilities of all your opponents ex and gx pokemon except its own. Downside is it has to be your active pokemon to work. Its attack is kind of expensive and even with a choice band it's not really killing anything in one turn.

All Eeveelutions will get increasingly worse because power creep makes what should normal stat spreads look bad.
The only way to salvage most of them at once would be to make a Parting Shot like move that gives your switch-in +1 attack and special attack.

glaceon-gx is okay i guess, nice ability and the gx attack compliments the regular attack, but it really wishes it had an attack that was just a single basic energy or a double colorless. stuff like buzzwole-gx, zoroark-gx and even fellow eeveelution espeon-gx see more play because of this

here is how would go about it:

look at it stats and abilities, as well as search the movepool for something that capture the eye and try to decide a role for it based on that

fine tune said role with additional moves and a held items that compliment it

from the top of my mind, it seem to got an ok bulk and great SPA. in abilities it got snow cloak, which is nice ability that smogon compromised by banning double team, and ice body which also only works in hail. since hail mainly benefit ice pokemons, and since moody and sheer cold are banned by smogon (smogon is not a good place for glaceon) ice team is a bad move and...

well i can give you a deep analysis all day long. but for now, why don't try puutting it in a mied weather team, with sandstorm setter, hail setter, glaceon, a pokemon that works only in sandstorm and two pokemons that aren't afraid of eitther weather (lke by typing or overcoat)

role? wall breaker. give it some crits. and healbell since walls like to poison/burn.

GF hates a lot of eeveelutions since day one. In particular, flareon. Also leafeon. The only truly stand-out ones have been vaporeon and jolteon and then later on sylveon (aka the pre-release XY shillmon). Umbreon and Espeon were always fairly meh.

It also got powercrept by an ice cream cone and a snowflake in gen 5

However at least Glaceon is PU because there's better options, not because it's completely useless in the higher tiers.
