>>37291557I really don't think you even know what you're talking about. With the overworld system shitmons still spawn, but I don't have to be stuck waiting for a bunch of bullshit animations every time it happens just to run away, I simply avoid them and never engage them to begin with, and usually go elsewhere in the dungeon/route to check on other spawn points. In fact, I'm "PLAYING THE GAME." far more with this system than I am in any previous games where I pretty much just found a single good spot and ran around a circle for hours while doing something else more interesting, only looking down at my DS to check what the spawn was before running away or mashing false swipe and throwing balls at it.
With this system, it's also a little more real and immersive (though LGPE's implementation is far from perfect or at all the way I would have liked it) and also encourages me to explore an area and be more attentive to the game rather than just spinning around waiting for something I want to literally pop out of nothing or, in your own words, fall into my lap.
There's absolutely no justification for universal random encounters on a modern game running on semi-capable modern hardware in 2018. It's a shitty, lazy, dull mechanic that only existed because Genwun was designed for a fucking toaster microcontroller with a screen and a speaker attached to it.
