probably gonna be in gen 8 especially if the rumors its for the older generation of people, but what would you want with harder mode? Trainers out leveling you, more HP on trainers pokemons, smarter AI that switches just to counter you?

Smarter AI and movesets seem like an easy way to increase the difficulty. I'd also love to be able to skip the tutorial, I've played Pokemon for 20 years, I know how to catch them.

1) give trainers larger parties of pokemon. adjust trainer levels accordingly if needed
2) no exp share, or at least make it function like it did in the older games
3) have gym leaders and other "boss battles" use somewhat competitive style strategies with proper synergy. Rain teams, trick room teams, shit like that
4) adjust the AI so that it's not completely fucking braindead. Have AI that tries to predict switches or will actually switch out walled mons more than once in a blue moon
5) skip all the hand-holding tutorial shit. This should all be optional regardless of difficulty mode anyway
6) have the hard mode actually accessible from the start of the game. I shouldn't need to play through the game already and unlock it

Despite the takedown notices against custom ROM hacks, I remember hearing GF actually enjoys those "difficulty hacks" people make, which is why they are never targeted. No reason why GF can't just cut out the middleman and create them themselves. Even if it's as simple as just increasing the IVs from 0 to 15 to 31 of NPC trainers' default Pokémon. It doesn't have to be Kaizo-tier. Just have the max. difficultly setting turn on Battle Facility-tier AI for all NPC trainers.

Also, if we're going to stick with Gym Leaders having 3 Pokémon, then force the player to only use 3 by at least partially enforcing Battle Facility rules which are already programmed into the games.

Is that hard, GF? Newer games should just start you at school, with all the tutorials being optional under the pretense that you already "studied" for this.
