>>37293281There was an episode where Ash encountered a guy with a strict training regime (bordering on abuse in some ways), and at one point Ash asked the Pokémon if they wanted to leave that trainer and come along with him. The Pokémon all looked at him like he was an idiot, obviously preferring to stay with their trainer, so it's pretty clear that Pokémon do grow to like their trainers.
