>>37293429The whole focus of Pokemon was the idea of 'battle to weaken a pokemon' and then 'capture'. They have sacrificed a core element of the Pokemon games simply to appeal to the mobile phone crowd by copying Pokemon Go, even though that method was simplified because they knew people would not bother to fight wild Pokemon while on phones.
It used to rely on a level of skill, adding a status effect would increase catch chances, using different types of balls, etc...
Now it is entirely RNG where your choices do not matter and the Pokemon can flee immediately after you berry it or throw a ball. You have no attachment to the Pokemon because you do not 'earn' it and you cannot battle wild Pokemon so you spend the first half of the game having to get Pokeballs from a gifter and then sell them to ensure you have Pokeballs to use to either level up your team or simply to be prepared for the random high level Pokemon/shiny.
You need to be constantly aware of where you are when walking through an area - rechecking to see if any shiny pokemon has spawned because they can appear anywhere - including in areas where you cannot get at that stage in the game - or for example, in the mansion where you cannot get to the other side without going up stairs or ladders that would make it despawn.
You are still left with the same RNG as wild battles, but instead of running back and forth in grass in the hopes of getting something you want - you now stand in a single spot using a lure and wait till you see a shiny or Pokemon you need. In essence, the game progression stops because you are not interacting with the game, just looking at a screen waiting to see something.
