Kalos is so utterly forgettable in almost all regards that no one remembers Kalos for anything except its retarded evil team, the stalker friends, Lucario Pandering, Kanto Pandering and Kalos being PokeFrance.
Alola on the other hand is remembered for all the wrong reasons, being known for its abundance of gameplay interruptions, extremely linear hallway-based world design, waifushit protagonist making the player take the backseat for almost the entirety of THEIR journey, Kanto Pandering and everyone greeting you by proclaiming the name of their region.
Neither of those regions stick out for any good reasons precisely because they failed to flesh them out beyond a few characters or the main antagonists, and instead opted to shove in throwbacks and references to Kanto that no one except Veterans (who are sick of the incessant pandering) and Genwunners (who won't even play the game long enough to see all of them and LITERALLY CLAP because they saw KANTO) will get.
