Something weird is happening. 2016 both Atsuko Nishida (designer of Pikachu) and Yusuke Ohmura (design director for SM) got freelancer. And this year Megumi Mizutani (important designer for GF) got a freelancer. Why the hell did three important designer left GF to be freelancer? Ken Sugimori will now for sure be the Gen 8 design director and we will get again ugly Pokémon...

That composer from ORAS and BW also ""left"" and then he came back for LGPE. I assume it doesn't mean they won't work for GF anymore.

They will probably do but not big roles only for design stuff. Megumi Mizutani was seen as the next Pokémon design director aftee Yusuke Ohmura. I hope someone else will it be, I don't want Sugimori back, he adds ugly designs only for the "balance"

Many artists choose to freelance not because they dislike the company or the creative direction of its projects, but becausw they enjoy having the freedom to work on other things, too, with other studios. Full time GF employees have contracts and non-compete clauses and loads of bureaucratic bs to deal with, in exchange for more permanent job security. But many artistic people just don’t like being constrained in that way
