Patterns based on previous generations and current news. A generation was revealed in January ONCE. February was more common, though that was often related to an upcoming movie. April and May have to do with this generation's pattern of the event legends being revealed in April, and May has always been when the bulk of news happens, although I can't think of a single time that meant a reveal of the game itself save for extra versions or remakes. I'm sure this is more fueled out of a desire to cut the fat, as we always end up with months of nothing for a new gen before it really starts up in May.
