digimon fan here. our genwunning is mostly limited to the anime. the games do their own thing, and tamers has been getting some love in merchandise lately.
pokemon, on the other hand, there's no escape. games, anime and movies are all united in shilling KAAAAAAANTOOOOOOO 24/7.

I'll be honest, since LGPE's announcement I've trying to get back into both Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon - though when I say that I mostly pretty much exclusively mean rewatching the animes.

Kys liar. I literally have to deal with Agumon and Gabumon in the last three games, with the same fucking VAs from the anime.
At least Savers got a new VA for Agumon and a design change.

If you're trying to get into Yu-Gi-Oh as a card game, I'd recommend watching Arc-V if you also want to watch the anime alongside it. It'll have all the crazy shit you should expect to see when you play Yu-Gi-Oh.
If you want to get more into Digimon, just play Digimon World Dawn and Dusk at least until ExoGrimmon. If you like it but hate the Digivolving system, then go buy Cyber Sleuth.
