Its extremely low speed prevents it from being a good sweeper, even with a high 130 base attack and the ability Guts.
Flareon has a high vulnerability to many things, such as physical attacks with it having a low 65 base defense, common attacking types such as Water, Ground, and Rock, and Obscure Ore taking 1/4th of its HP every time it switches in, which is already bad enough when Flareon relies on Guts + Toxic Orb, placing it on a timer.
Flareon's learnset is extremely pathetic, forcing Flareon to rely on a very limited movepool.
Let's not forget how this thing was even MORE useless before the physical/special split.
