The gap between the 7th and 8th gen was 52 episodes, and let's not get with the 12 episodes gap between the first and second attempt in volkner's gym. There's no reason to defend the gap that happened, at least it gets a pass for making those "filler" have somewhat of a importance to the plot and for not being like johto/unova. I still remember how annoying that gap was, I'm kinda surprised I beared up with it.
