Mystery Dungeon series is definitely not among these games - quite a lot of people love its numerous titles.

BW were needlessly shat on for lacking previous Pokemon before postgame.
BW2 deserve its smaller popularity for being another copy-paste game, however it still did more than previous games. It was a sequel instead of an expansion (like Crystal, Emerald and Platinum).
Spin-offs in that gen have varied quality but I enjoyed many titles (Typing Adventure, PokePark 2, Gates to Infinity and Conquest). Looking for info about each of these games left me with relatively small number of threads, FAQs, reviews etc.
