He also went back to just randomly shouting out move names whereas in DP most of his moves had some kind of strategy to them (either things that happen in the game or, more often, bullshit that sounds cool).
Also the fact that it removed almost every reference to any previous series so he seemed to know almost nothing about Pokémon in general.
Also there was a plot arc featuring Team Rocket vs Team Plasma which was heavily foreshadowed and featured in marketing material which got cancelled. Prior to its cancellation, Jessie and James appeared to have some motives going on, but afterwards they were once again just comic relief villains. This also meant it went about two thirds of its run with no overarching plot, while DP and XY at least had occasional references to the villainous team's plots.
