Why was Kalos's soundtrack so lacking compared to every other region? Only one I can actually remember well is Coumarine City for it's smooth jazz sound.

Remove the League theme and add instead Lysandre's theme, then I'm happy with it.

I still think XY has a rather meh soundtrack (with the follwing games), but the legendaries, main villain and champ themes were the best in the series imo.

Kageyama also did the LGPE rearrangements and they suck, so I'm convinced X/Y's lackluster music was entirely his fault. Thankfully he won't be a part of gen 8 since he was busy with those games.

Was coming to say this, the Super training themes sounded more like battle themes then the actual ones. And that snow city theme and bike theme were good too.

Kageyama composed Zinnia's theme which is up there for one of the best tracks, so he's not all that bad. You're right about the rearrangements though, he should probably stick to arranging original compositions.

What do you mean? Gen 5's OST remains the worst by a huge margin. Unless you mean XY was more forgettable, because gen 5 certainly has many memorable tunes for all the wrong reason.

Kalos' soundtrack was quite rememorable as was the region itself. The game just lacked major polishing to be a decent one. We have just needed either third version or a little bit more time on development for XY themselves, but GF was greedy.

Also, Alola's soundtrack was worse.

Only one I remember besides Lumiose City and the route with the day care which I hate those songs is the city where the Fairy gym was. I guess there was one of two battles themes that were good, but that was it.
