I'll agree that S/M is hard, but USUM had some bullshit difficulty spikes, because a lot of key battles have competitive stats and nice move coverage. Catching the UBs can be really hard if you don't want to use the Beast Balls, especially something like Blacephalon both hitting hard and killing itself with Mind Blown.

I disagree, I think Trace is far worse than Hau. Hau atleast got a little development in USUM in his desire to get stronger, it's not much, but it's still something. Trace on the other hand remains Friendly McCanisuckyourdick throughout the entire game. Plus GF knows we're sick of friendly rivals which is why they advertised him as such in the trailers.

Pic fucking related. Repels are a fucking bandaid, and having to sort through your hundreds of items to avoid a fucking annoying mechanic is FUCKING ANNOYING. Especially when I have to use a repel for 5 fucking tiles of grass, then as soon as the repel wears off, another 5 tiles of grass appears on screen

The one thing I liked about PLG is that you can see wild pokemon. I loved that shit with seeing enemies on the map in Tales of Symphonia and wish that every fucking game has it. Everything else that it did right was just a result of reusing KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I dunno, the new wild encounter system kind of breaks the map design in a few places. Outside of Fuchsia city where I'm at now, there are two Mohawk bikers standing in front of the tall grass. In the old system, you chose whether to fight the trainers or risk encountering Pokemon in the wild grass. The design of the Kanto region doesn't account for the new mechanics much at all.
