I only got back into Pokemon somewhat recently, what is it that everyone hates about Gen 5 so much?
I've only played a little but it seems functionally identical to Gen 4, my main gripe being that the touch screen is completely wasted after being used perfectly in HGSS. Also how linear the map is (being literally just a straight line) but it's not that big of a deal.

That's what post-game is for. Black/White was my favorite blind playthrough because every single entry in the Pokedex was a new experience.

I honestly can't say I disliked any of the Gen V pokemon because they all looked really interested. Except for Gothorita and Vullaby because Braviary and Reuniclus looked way better.

Black and white was actually a large revival for the series.People were actually making long ass lines at game stop for it after the success of HG&SS.

Fuck the leak period before Unova was such a good time too, I know people like to reminisce about going into B/W blind but the day the Pokedex was revealed I instantly went to look at it and just oggle at the mons. Unova's was such a fucking insanely good Pokedex, especially coming off the tail of Sinnoh's which I thought was pretty good. A giant fiery moth and a zebra with lightning bolt stripes, it was inspired. When Alola's dex was revealed I felt absolutely nothing, couldn't come close to my feelings with Unova.
