There's literally nothing special involved. Even old ass hardware like the GB managed to do it, so it's clearly not that hard to set a flag and say "fuck off". Gen III to Gen IV is understandable, and so is V to VI, but IV to V, and V to VII literally do not have an excuse. Defending this is the absolute height of retardation. Even worse, once a Pokémon is transferred to a newer gen, it can never come back? This isn't even sheckle grabbing anymore, that's just pure, 100% lazy.
