what is the reason GF scrapped Z or Z1/Z2 and just jump to gen7 with sun/moon?

was it due to:
- poor sales of x/y
- saving Z for switch (true 3D game 'xyz' axis)
-controversy of paris attack

and will we ever get the z Version?

The anime had Eureka do it to him all the time, but it's unavailable in the game.

They never planned it. Alola was hinted at as early as X/Y, and they already knew ORAS was next mid X/Y development, since Ohmori was asked to direct them on the 10th anniversary of the originals in 2012. With this in mind they probably planned ahead and left 'Z' to the anime so that they could give full attention to S/M. Anyone who says S/M were rushed for 20th anniversary is memeing, since gen 6 had the regular lifespan of 3 years and had two pairs of games like gen 5 before it.
They are just trying to justify why Game Freak didn't follow pattern even though they've been breaking patterns since BW2.

The most logical theory is that ORAS took its place. If I was to guess how things went:

Another thing to note is that ORAS continues and wraps up the mega evolution story. So in a way it's rewritten plot and postgame episode are also Z.

SM was originally planed as Pokemon Switch, but Nintendo didn't decide until late that the Switch was going to replace both the home console and handheld. Nintendo has to give their developers access to the new hardware at least a year before the device is launched, so we can expect that GF didn't get the Switch until 2016, when SM launched in place of Z.

That means that in 2015, GF was told by Nintendo that the Switch was the future and they had to make games for that console. Hiring all new staff on short notice for such a thing isn't realistic, so it's more likely they simply reassigned all their Z staff to learn and develop for the Switch.

SM IS rushed, and USUM shows that. You can see where and how GF wanted to be ambitious with a pseudo remake of Kanto's plotline in Alola.

As for the Ohmori part, I can't find the exact interview now but he said he was taken out to dinner on R/S 10th anniversary and asked to direct their remakes, and that he had those in mind while they were wrapping up development on X/Y. There is also an NPC in X/Y who mentions the anniversary of R/S.

Yeah, USUM feels way more fully realized opposed to SM, putting the plot hole-ridden narrative aside. I just went back to Sun briefly, and the difference is incredible.

How does USUM make SM look rushed, exactly? The addition of Mantine Surf and more Ultra Spaces? If anything I'd argue USUM itself is rushed for coming a mere year after the originals and not adding anything substantial like battle frontier.

Honestly if there's anything the Souvenir tells us, it's that an XY2 was infact scrapped and had its elements moved to gen 7. Pokemon games have never made any references or hints to a new generation or region that's 3 years away, obviously because they aren't even in the planning stages at that point. The Alola that we know now might just be a huge expansion of whatever small extra region they had planned for XY2.

Yeah, my guess is they knew they’d have to develop for the Switch in the near future so they went for gen 7 more quickly. Otherwise they’d have a long gap from gen 6 to gen 7 on Switch, or they’d have a much-shortened gen 7 on 3DS.

I don't believe that GF went to all the effort of removing HMs from the games just to leave the same content-restrictive roadblocks in place. Alola was definitely imagined as a "new beginning" type of game. It could have been if they had another year to work on it, expecting the next-gen handheld for a 2018 release.
For all the hate SM gets, visually it's a huge facelift over even ORAS (which was itself much better than XY). The gap between SM and LGPE is smaller than SM and ORAS, so if you were to jump from ORAS to LGPE graphics I think people would complain less about the reused models and limited animation.

I would agree with you but they did it twice. First with the souvenir and again with Looker's amnesia in ORAS (foreshadowing ultra wormholes) So either they were crazy enough to plan that far ahead, or what was once Z got reworked into SM like you said.

I forgot to mention that X/Y started development in June 2010, before the first gen 5 games were even released. So it wouldn't be too farfetched that they planned Alola conceptually as X/Y was wrapping up, and left ORAS to a side team.
