>>37366233His name was Andrew. Andrew liked mewtwo a lot. A whole lot. Mewtwo was the strongest Pokemon, according to him. A perfect thing in every way, legendaries with higher BSTs were just due to mewtwo holding back.
For 9 years, he had worked on a fan fiction. His magnum opus. But it wasn't just that. It was a reflection of his life in a parallel world, wherein he was Mewtwo. And all of the people who he knew were also characters of the story. When things went south with friends or family, the characters in the story would turn evil or betray the Mewtwo character. To him, the story Universe was an expression of his soul's experience. And then Mega Mewtwo Y was shown off.
To him, mewtwo had been ruined. The Pokemon company had been ruined. He had it in his head, and I had become convinced at some point, that the Canon of Pokemon, the lore, was due to one particular individual's ability to perceive both our reality and the Pokemon reality. The existence of Mega Mewtwo did two things. One, it showed that Mewtwo was not necessarily the most perfect possible being, because it could be improved, something that he disagreed with extremely heavily. And two, it meant that the people whose incite he believed defined the universe that his soul resided in were forcefully turning away from him, and trying to redefine his soul and corrupt his mind. Worse, his boyfriend like the design for Mega Mewtwo. He went into a deep depression, claiming to have burned the entire handwritten fanfiction, which he never put online, due to fear that others with a connection to the Pokemon world like his would read it, and be jealous of his power and try to hurt him.
