>>37369455Trade evos are stupid because it's not about having a pleasant surprise when you trade pokemon. Even then, if I traded my Machoke and the other guy got a Machamp I'd be fucking upset. As of now people only ever do them for the sake of evolving pokemon, but you're fucked if you don't have someone to trade with. You can have version exclusives if you need to encourage players to play with one another but there's no reason to gate Porygon's evolution methods.
It'd be one thing to make the player find or earn a Water Stone or grind their Magikarp to its evoltuion threshold or hold their 3DS upside down, that's at least real gameplay. It involves catching, battling, and raising, which is the game. Trade evos are gay and add nothing to the franchise.
