They're not text dumps though, just a couple of lines of dialogue.
In games like SM you have to sit there for minutes listening to characters go on and on about how the region was made, what pokemon they worship, and what the evil team is after. These are also mandatory, while the lore in Kanto and Johto is optional.

The only reason to like Kanto is that you can do like 4 gyms in any order.
It's got the shittiest level design.
Every other region (except maybe Kalos or Alola) are much more interesting to traverse and look at (well at least Kalos and Alola have that).
Johbros/Hoennchads/Sinbads/Unoverses are the most high test Pokemon fans because their regions and games are some of the best the series has to offer. If you hate any games except maybe from Gen 2-5 except D/P, you literally aren't allowed to be called human anymore, it'd just be an insult to our species to allow creatures even below subhumans like yourself to be associated with us.

Of course, but the game forcefully shoving text down your throat is not at all interesting. With Gen I and Gen II you had to deviate from the plot to find lore. Whereas in the games after the game just gives them to you, which takes away what makes lore special in the first place.

I think that would more specifically be the game telling you where to go or even things that it has already told you. I will agree this shouldn't be done, but the course of events should still be important. It definitely should since there's a massive amount of potential on the stories they could tell, but it will never happen since Gamefreak is not the type of company to take risks.

I will argue that pokemon was never intended for such a purpose. It is constructed in the same manner as a TCG. Any thought that it could've been taken seriously is absolutely nil. I really liked Gen 3, I loved playing Emerals on the GBA and spending hundreds of hours at the Battle Frontier, and then connecting it to my Gamecube to grind on Mt. Battle or trade Shadow Pokemon over. Pokemon was batter before online connectivity IMO, because then you had to make IRL friends to do multiplayer. It made it more intimate.

I still have a 10th anniversary Celebi I got in 2005 from a friend I made at the local library.

What else can Agatha tell us besides "I knew the professor since we were young XD". Did Giovanni ever knew Professor Oak or Lance? Some fangames I have played have expanded into the lore much better than the original one. Sure, one could argue that the fact that fans have to resort to theories while the actual lore still holds a mistery is "good", but for me, it's bad design and honestly leave the whole worldbuilding of Kanto quite unfinished. I would argue that we still don't know much about the lore of Kanto besides the one we witnessed in Gen 1, which is quite disappointing as GF could have done more to expand their lore a bit in Kanto and have had numerous opportunities to accomplish it.
As far as I'm concerned, most of what you mentioned are simple trivias that never have been expanded upon.

The fact remains that the games peaked at Gen 5. Nothing before or after is better and this is coming from someone with a very heavy bias towards Sinnoh and Hoenn.
Kanto and Kalos are both shit tier and anyone who defends them are massive brainlets who feed into fanservice and nostalgia pandering. They probably also play Pokemon Go,
