Which is retarded. It doesn't make sense to release that until after the PS5/XBwhatever release so they can plan accordingly for ports.

This year will obviously be a handheld only version to go with Gen 8. They can easily get it down to the price of a New 2DS XL for people with multiple child families.

Especially after the ass raping Trash Go has received, they're not about to pass up doing the Gen 4 Lite and Gen 6 2DS of the Switch. They need as many gasping for content fanboys as they can get.

I haven't bothered with the Switch yet because I'm still on the fence for Gen 8. If Gen 8 sucks I'm waiting for Sinnoh remakes/third set of Gen 8/Gen 9 games.

There's also a new Switch coming out, its best to wait for that unless you really want to homebrew a Switch then you'd have to buy an old batch one.

The O3DS and N3DS only had a processor change, with some N3DS models having an IPS panel on the upper screen. Battery life is the same if you compare the same sizes.

The Switch and the Nu Switch will probably be not that much different other than a faster processor and better screen, unless they make the Switch 10% larger/smaller.

I did too and was even more glad I did when I got Next Order and Hacker's Memory 2. There are a few other games I found on the PS4 that I love too. Just cause you buy a system for 1 game doesn't mean it'll be the only game for that system that you'll enjoy. Bought a Switch for LGPE and gen 8 but plan to get something Mario, maybe Zelda, maybe DBZ Xenoverse and maybe Splatoon too

If there's ever gonna be an updated one there's usually a campaign that let's you trade in your old one and get a heavy discount on the new version. Not that i'm having any noticable lagspikes or any performance issues with my current one.

Every 3DS game lags when there's more than two pokémon on the field though (sliding scale of lag 3/4 slight to medium, horde/that retarded 5vs1 in ORAS lags like a motherfucker). That seems to be a problem with the engine in general.

If you want an actual JRPG that has "soul" as the kids say, get something like Xenoblade 2 or Octopath Traveler. They had effort put into them. I used to be a Pokémon kid where every handheld I owned was a dedicated Pokémon machine. Then I actually began venturing outside my comfort zone with the 3DS and found a ton of great games, and right as Pokémon began its decline too. Now I think I'm at the point where it's possible that I'll never own a Pokémon game for the Switch if they refuse to return to form.

Gen IV didn't need to run at 30 fps and have long saving times.
Gen VI and VII didn't need to disable 3D and cut battle types to have a somewhat stable 30 fps.
Let's Go doesn't need to run at 30 fps with dips when the performance can't be that much higher than the 3DS games.

Knowing Game Freak, they're probably doing something retarded like rendering all of Kanto at once and setting identical NPC models as different files for every single NPC.

This. The 3DS could run fucking Monster Hunter of all things with several giant enemies and up to 4 players on screen at once, with all the models being pretty high fidelity and the maps themselves being quite detailed. All that at a stable 30 fps.

Game Freak is just horrible at optimisation. The 3DS' hardware is perfectly fine, as was the DS' before it (which could run SM64) and so is the Switch's (which can run Xenoblade 2). There is no reason any of the Pokemon games for those systems should run so poorly.

I still enjoy my Switch but it's exclusively for the great first party stuff, I don't really care for playing Hollow Knight or Okami when I already have them on PC.

Point is, I don't think indies and third parties are a good reason to buy a Switch if you don't care about Nintendo stuff unless you for someone reason don't own any other console or PC from the last decade to play them.. Even if you're someone who really enjoys the portability aspect I don't think it'd be worth 300$ just for that.

Pokémon is a plastic logo. It's a brand that people buy into because they recognize it rather than it having any quality. Imagine buying a Pokémon game so you can look at the mascots rather than enjoy playing. It exists solely to make money. There is no artistic merit left. It's not a small group of friends forming a company to make what they're passionate about anymore. They're not cutting designs or reworking anything. They're trying to streamline and homogenize their work as much as possible to pump out annual releases. There are no risks, only conditioning the fanbase to accept the decline and ignore detractors. Look at Gold and Silver. Look at how they upended development halfway through to make a better game.
