Objectively speaking I agree, Diamond and Pearl are trash (TWO fucking fire types in the entire game?) but Platinum is probably the best game in the franchise.
BUT its so fucking slow, and that isn't ADD talking, it just takes so long to do anything, grinding is even more of a chore than Hoenn despite re-adding the VS seeker, and there's no enjoying adventure when I'm always bored shitless by the hour long routes.
Not to mention it's dark as fuck. Granted I only really get time to play at night which doesn't help, but it's all so grey.

If it wasn't a problem why did Gamefreak decide to fix it when they released Platinum? This was the first time they changed a regional dex for the remake, even they acknowledged that they fucked up.

When I was young I wasn't super into gen 3, because I didn't understand or appreciate the overhaul of the inner workings of pokemon it really was
but as an adult, gen 1 and 2 are so simple and boring in comparison, even if I love johto as a region, gen 3 just blows them out of the water in terms of breadth and depth
