Who knows. There are several Pokémon that shouldn’t be legendary or even mythical. I like the lore behind elusive Pokémon but it just seems like they make Pokémon legendary arbitrarily at this point. Personally I think it would be better to take away legendary status from Heatran (and several other Pokémon) and instead just make it a normal Pokémon that doesn’t spawn in the wild and have an overworked encounter so you can only catch one. It’s more fun to think there are just very rare, strong Pokémon instead of Demi gods of nature spergin around everywhere with little justification

Heatran already is that. Despite it's official legendary status, there's nothing in-game that really sets it apart outside of being a fixed encounter.

Importance doesn't really seem to big issue. It's just some strong fuck. Pokemon like Zapdos and Volcanion don't have any lore aside from their dex entries and whatever nonsense the Anime writers concocted that week so it's not unheard of.

I can only guess it is because they have a slow gestation period and live in a hostile environment, so they aren't seen as much.
I mean, it was established in gen 1 that some legendaries like the birbs do reproduce.

I always thought that's what most legendaries were. Just powerful, rare Pokémon with folklore tied to them. Fuck the Arceus creation myth that nigga ain't my god.

Fucking this. Legendary just means it's the stuff of legends. It's not something you'll see just fucking around in the everyday wild. It doesn't necessarily have to have some special power or control over something. That's literally what the point genwun birds was.
