Never played a Yokai Watch game.
Do I have to play every single one or does each subsequent installment expand upon the previous ones just with a new story?

It is loosely connected.

The coolest thing is game gives you new yokai (Buchinyan) if you played previous game on the same console before.
It was a neat suprise.

We still know VERY little about yo-kai watch 4, and it's set to come out in Q1 of this year. I am anxious to see what it'll be like even if localization takes like 4 years or something
