I know Sun, Moon and the Ultra variants aren't popular around here, but I must say its soundtrack is probably the best out of all the games (I started with Gold).

I feel kinda bad because I really liked paying through sun. I'm a sucker for tropical themes and I liked the trials way better then gyms. Also the music was really good, I was surprised how good the victory road theme was even though there was no victory road

I like some of the tracks from Gen 3 and 4, the FireRed/LeafGreen Gym Leader theme and the Team Aqua/Magma Grunt Theme. But i've gotten kinda sick of the more 'chiptune' style of music, so I appreciate the more modern filter of music that is in USUM. LGPE has an awful soundtrack though.

Aesthetic wise, Alola is maximum comfy and the trials were pretty fun. I did miss gym battles however. I also like Rotom Dex, I think its cute

I think they started sampling sounds since gen 6 and that's why it feels amateurish compared to previous gens. They'll get better though.

Alola's soundtrack is more atmospheric than catchy in a lot of areas. Typically it's not as memorable, but when a track is good, it's really fucking good. Poni Wilds is one of my favourite area themes in any game and I really like the Elite Four and Lusamine battle themes too.

As another mentioned the OST is more on the atmospheric side, which I think works wonderfully well. I really like these night tracks too, easily some of the most relaxing in the series:

Credit where credit is due. There are other themes I'd list too, but I don't think there's anything in the OST I don't like.
