doujins Umbreon would be often called "black cat," and often times, Japanese fans joke about it being a cat with rabbit ears (cabbit), but neither fox or dog is brought up.
Japanese fanart of Umbreon is way more on model than Western art as well, because they know that Umbreon canonically has a blunt snout, small paws and a slender body, something more reminiscent to a feline. Then you have western art which always, ALWAYS draws Umbreon with a huge schnozz, shiba inu eyebrows, a burly build and disney eyes, and it's so fucking ugly to look at because it doesn't even look like the pokemon anymore.
