i'd like to see a new starter without a secondary type, preferably the fire starter (as the last and only pure fire starter was typhlosion)

This was gonna be my answer. Any thoughts on how you would implement this? If wartortle and blastoise hadn't already fucked the opportunity I would say minogame seaweed turtle for water/grass.
perhaps an actual kelp kelpie for water grass? Starts as a regular water horse, becomes a seaweed monster with evolution (once it has lured a rider in the mythology). For grass/fire maybe a bird based on phoenixes and the pants which seed themselves during forest fires and are made to be highly combustible? Starts out as a regular grass bird and ignites for the final stage. I'm stumped for fire/water though

The secondary type triangle meme needs to stop. I'd rather see starters with typing that's cohesive with their designs instead of shoehorning a typing to fill gaps in a chart that doesn't matter.

because we haven't had one since gen 5, where they had neat royalty/samurai themes
the coverage problems and lack of secondary STAB is a problem, yes, but game freak will fuck up anyway, may as well hope they fuck up in predictable ways
