>>37398277That may be but they're still over designed. Pokémon is not. Even the most overdesigned Pokémon (normal Mega Gyarados with all it's bullshit colors, for example) is still fairly simple compared to even the majority of Champion level Digimon or even a common Yu-Gi-Oh! monster.
I wouldn't consider them trash like the one you responded to. I like them just fine (at least up until Frontier in Digimon where as far as I'm concerned the series peaked) but that doesn't mean they're not entirely different styles with one being more appealing generally.
By which I of course mean Pokémon. The aforementioned shows and products are targeted primarily at young to teenage boys for a reason while Pokémon targets everyone and the designs bear that out because they're more generally appealing.
