To Unovafags, why do you like Gen 5 so much? BW/2 are the only mainline games I have never played but I simply can't get motivated enough to play them, they look so boring and... meh.

Because the music is god tier, the characters are fairly memorable as far as Pokemon characters go, and the huge amount of new mons in gen 5 means there is, or at least was, no shortage of new Pokemon to try out. Not to mention the battles are lightning quick compared to the gen that came before it

You'll have to play them and you'll see.

B2W2 are better than BW, but BW is like playing Pokemon for the first time again. An entire new region, an entire new Pokedex, new characters, that should motivate you enough if you truly like Pokemon. They are very much an adventure and the story is probably the most mature of any generation, although not every may find it fully engaging or interesting. Just give them a shot anon, for me, please.

The thing is, I know most if not all Pokémon from Unova, characters like N, Ghetsis, the gym leaders, etc, they don't feel particularly new or fresh to me, you know? So I don't feel like playing them that much. I might give it a shot just for the sake of it, though, playing Gen V was one of my New Year's resolutions.

I can use single-digit IQ memes too, but in my case, the problem I have is they established a lore with a reason behind it (Unova very far away for the first 4 regions) regarding their lack og anything Gen IV or older. Then turned around to go "lol, here's the old shitmons back because people are spergs" BW2 would have been as good, if not better than 2 is cvlaimed to be, had they stuck to their guns.

Great music
Unique music for each city, or town
Memorable characters
Nice UI and futuristic SFX
Huge regional dex
Had the best follow up games in whole series
Very strong overall identity which I don't see in any of the 3D games
Nice big overworld sprites that gave character to the npcs etc
Pandering nonexistent and it didn't NEED it to be appealing
I like seasons with the overworld and music changes

I agree with most of your points, but not this. The individual areas are fantastic, but the "literally a circle" complaint about the region itself is definitely valid. It's not the worst region design, but it's not the best either.

Not him but I'd like someone to elaborate more on how that's a negative, besides just the linear progression. I like what they did with BW2 by simply changing the order you visit towns to get to the league (with a bunch of new ones and side areas too) giving the games a totally different feel compared to the prequels.

I've been doing a Blaze Black play thru and there have been times that I just want to run off and explore (this was my favorite part of gen3) but except for that water route by your home town and 2 optional caves you have to go in a very straight path as far as exploration and travel is concerned.

Still very fun.

Is it a cop-out to just say everything? I mean, I definitely have complaints - in particular the early game of BW1 having terrible Pokemon variety and all the casualizing trends that were exaggerated in Gen 6 - but I just genuinely love the Gen 5 games in general

I honestly think you should black 2 and white 2 personally I hated the original black and white because I just thought it was really boring and I didn’t like being being forced to only use unova Pokémon when I didn’t really like a lot of them, however black 2 and white 2 are easily my second favorite in the series so I highly recommend trying them

Pokemon Black and black 2 were masterpieces. I loved how the story for each and the way the legendary pokemon were incorporated. Victini is used in plot by Plasma, The swords of justice want to help the player in Black 2, I can go on but I love these games.

No it wasn't, you're full of shit. I dropped the series after playing White, and I know others did the same. We constantly had threads complaining about every facet of the games - the sprites, the cutscenes, the music (particularly the low HP theme), even the "casualization" with out-of-battle poison damage and infinite TMs.

Not my favorite generation but BW2 were definitely the last good games before the series went to utter shit

I skipped all the way from GSC to BW and found it great. I got 10 years of improvements at once with all-new Pokemon and a fresh story compared to Team Rocket again. The game was also challenging (I picked Snivy), so I had to learn all about EVs, IVs, STAB and breeding on the fly to beat the game and especially Ghetsis. In retrospect, the only thing that's bad about Gen V to me is the dex and the ugly, aging graphics. The bad dex with its ugly mons, nonsense evolution criteria, poor balance/movepools and sheer number, is the biggest albatross. I think Gen V had the single lowest viable mon/dex size of any gen ever.

Something that is unrelated to your goal is forced into your goal, in effect not changing what you're doing whatsoever. BW2 is even worse since now they're unrelated to your goal entirely again just like the rest of the series. It's not even that clever since Ghetsis is still a cartoon villain.

That's it, it's perfect otherwise. The actual main-game is the highest quality main-game of all generations, and it's very easy to set your own difficulty by deciding how many audino you want to kill. The people who dismiss the entire generation because of only trubbish are tools.

My God it's literally the same two music phrases over and over. Its fucking awful but thats your problem if your brain likes hearing the same thing over and over again over a heavy beat. If you want a good example of an elite four theme see gen 3.

There are select tracks in each generation that are good (and regular elite four theme is not one of them for ANY generation), and even those good tracks are not worth autistically worshipping. The tracks in B/W are atmospheric, with some good ones sprinkled in, and B/W2's soundtrack is even better.

The bottom line is, if you walk around listening to pokemon music as your go to listen, then you're not a musical patrician, you're a sperg. If that's what you like by all means continue to do it, but worshipping pokemon soundtracks just makes you look like a joke.
