>>37402171It's definitely bottom 3 for me, personally. It really just doesn't suit itself to my playstyle.
I like to use different Pokemon every playthrough, building up my repertoire of Pokemon in Bank, and because Kanto has been around the longest, I've used most of the Kanto Pokemon. So my whole team is unevolved:
>Partner Eevee>Spearow>Bellsprout>Machop>Horsea>MeltanAnd now I've got a good idea of why I don't like these games. The bond with your starter Pokemon doesn't feel natural to me. In previous games, I form an autistic bond with my starter through the trials we pass through like losing in battle and overcoming those obstacles. I think they knew these games would be too easy, so they gave the starter Pokemon all these cutscenes and cute interactions to fabricate a connection.
Then, I have a problem with EXP. I hate how the Pokemon GO catching mechanics mess with EXP and the game in general. Meltan and Horsea were added about 4-5 Gym Badges in, so they weren't as high level as the rest of my team, so it was time to do some grinding (catching Pokemon) with the rest of my team in my Box. Okay, whatever. Then, the problem arose as I was running out of Poke Balls to catch wild Pokemon in, and the only way to get more money to buy more Balls was to progress the story, which would make the mons I'm grinding with even more underleveled, etc. etc.
I hate how there's a scenario in this game where you can't grind anymore because you don't have enough money. There were so many times during this playthrough that I was thinking to myself how much easier and less headache-inducing this game would be if I could just have Horsea use Scald on a bunch of Pokemon to grind, or if I could turn the EXP Share off.
On the plus side, I'm looking forward to playing this game co-op with my girlfriend tomorrow. She likes Pokemon GO, so maybe she'll have a more fun time than I did? I don't know.
For reference, here's my personal favorite games:
