This was the first and only time I've ever been forced to use a master ball on a legendary.

Why the fuck did they make him so strong?

My memory could be foggy, but I recall Lugia being a good contender for best attrition warrior in Gen 2 for being the Great Wall with Recover, while Aeroblast is so strong it compensates for his average attack. Primal Groudon is a great boss on paper- two ground moves, rest, and fire move for grasses and Skarmory, only Pelipper and the Latis resist both- and could definitely bulldoze some teams, but he was certainly no Lugia.

Did you consider throwing other balls? I think I caught him just by using Spore with Breloom then throwing Repeat Balls until one stuck.

In universe, Primal Groudon is just a couple steps below a deity. Why shouldn't it be powerful? I'd rather box legendaries be a pain in the ass to catch, as opposed to them being piss easy to catch like they usually are nowadays.
