Is buying a switch worth the price? Will good pokemon games ever come out on it? Its LGPE as bad as people say?

That depends on what you're into. Theres a decent amount of rpgs and 1st party nintendo stuff. 3rd party stuff is coming out more often than I had anticipated. Theres also a large amount of indie stuff on the eshop, a good portion of it garbage, but theres good stuff in there.

Is Pokemon the only game you care about? No. LGPE fucking sucks.
There's a lot of good ports and indie games if you're into that kind of stuff.
I couldn't care less about Smash but Bayo2 was very well ported.

300$ is a lot, and while I would play other games like Zelda I would primarily be buying it for Pokemon, seems like too much money to justify it.

Because it is. By the time we get Gen 8 we'll probably get a bundle. If not, oh well.

Rule of thumb: Never buy a console for a game that isn't out yet.

No. After Gen 7 and LGPE, the chances of a new pokemon game being good are impossibly small.

Switch was worth it for BotW back when that was the only good thing on it. Now it also has SSBU. Ignore LGPE though unless you're introducing Pokemon to your children for the first time.

It's worth the price if you stay offline and pirate its entire library. If you plan to go online you can still mod games safely, but to pirate, mod, and save edit (PkHex) you'll need a hackable early model which are still available in stores. Modding allows custom textures and to swap the inevitable terrible multiplayer battle background (singular) with a different one. Let's Go is worse than people say it is, but it's possible to edit values (trainer teams, text, evolution methods, etc.) with pkNX which will also be possible to do with Gen 8. If you don't care about being retarded you can wait for a console revision that everyone loves to do to screw over early buyers of their system, but it will have its hacking exploit patched as well just like recent Switch models.

A hacked Switch is the best gaming system out right now. Just make sure to make a clean NAND backup beforehand and keep your fuses safe with autorcm, and of course 100% offline. Then when Pokemon is out and you want to play online, load up your backup and it's like it was never hacked at all and totally safe to go online with.
Hell you can buy SX OS chinkware right now for emunand to still keep your nand clean WHILE pirating offline on the emunand.

It's absolutely worth it. If you literally only play Pokemon then kys.
