So I've been thinking about the Speed Stat and how it's the only stat where a single point is all that's needed to trump the other Pokemon. Now naturally making the whole thing chance based with the greater the discrepancy the greater the chance of the first Pokemon going out flat out is dumb since you can wind up with stupid shit like a really lucky Shuckle outspeeding Pheromosa because RNG.
So I was thinking about modifying the Speed Stat to where the game checks the actual stat and if there's a difference equal to or greater than 30 then the faster Pokemon will always go first but if it's within that 30 point perimeter then there is a chance for the slower Pokemon to go first. Now naturally the percent chance will always favor the faster Pokemon and speed ties are still a 50/50 but I feel this would be a way to still keep Speed important without making it an all or nothing endeavor as well as rewarding speed boosting moves as they will move the Pokemon's 'speed RNG range' for lack of a better word to a much higher threshold, as well as keeping it from being totally reliant on chance.
Now I will admit that the 30 point range is a bit arbitrary on my part but I felt that it was a fair number to base it on to keep Speed Tiers as a thing; if you think the range should be different or find any other issues with my suggestion, feel free to voice them.
Also go ahead and voice what other mechanical changes you think the series could use
