If you absolutely must keep the field phase, remove big and medium sized stages, making small the default. Ovals are kind of eh.
Bigger roster. Resort to clones if you must. It’s a fucking fanservice game just like Smash, not a super srs competitive fighter. Or at least it should be.
A different name. Pokken just sounds dumb, the game has almost nothing in common with Tekken anyways. Anything other than Pokémon + adjective(s) is doing it wrong desu
More references to the main series. A stage based on the Marine Tube would resonate with fans much better than something random like Blue Dome. Same with the human characters.
Nerf shielding and synergy burst. Keep supports, wall splats, health regen and inability to KO through chip.
