>>37430347Anon, what? You don’t see the problem of random things happening? That’s called bad writing. Things happening without context just for the sake of without given a reason, whether good or bad, is bad writing. I don’t see what’s not to understand. Pokémon has never been an anime to write home about, especially the writing, but the fact that things just suddenly appear or take place is both jarring and dumb.
Ash living and staying in one place already goes against the series’ foundations and even the games. What makes things fun and engaging is the journey, what’s to come and what’s to look forward to, and when everything is stationary and there’s nothing hinting on what’ll happen next, it gets boring and you feel like it’s a waste of time.
>Does it not make sense for him to just go to Ula’ula Island one day?No it doesn’t because there’s nothing telling him to besides the writers going “oh hey remember Ash is doing the Island Challenge?”. Why did he choose at that time to go instead of earlier or later? He wasn’t busy with anything, he wasn’t training, and Kukui let’s him go whenever so school isn’t an issue, so why’d he take so long? We’ll never know because the writers never gave a reason.
>Why would Hala randomly bring up HauBut you just said stuff randomly happening isn’t a problem so why not? Why wouldn’t he when he’s also an aspiring trainer doing the Island Challenge?
>characters don’t need goalYes they do. They need something to work towards, to help them develop. They are all in school for a reason, not to just learn about Pokémon. Only one who doesn’t have a goal is Lillie which she’s blatantly stated. She’s just standing around with no purpose, that’s both bad writing and a pointless character.
And Lana was never quiet to begin with. Learning about childhood isn’t development. And the only thing different about Lillie from when she started is that she can touch Pokémon.
