What are your parents' thoughts on Pokemon? Do they have a favorite? Can they even name any? Have you apologized for making them watch the first 3 movies in theaters?

My mom started playing Pokémon with me when I was a kid to try to bond. Her favorites are Pikachu and Bewear.

My dad is passively interested, he prefers his old-ass MMOs and tabletop, but he’ll ask about it if he sees me playing. His favorite is Psyduck.

My mother liked it, favorite was Pikachu. Had a huge collection of merch that's come into my care since she died in 2012.

She didn't like the games despite being a gamer (RPGs weren't really her thing) but she did like watching the anime.

Also, we only watched the first two movies in theaters. The third one and on didn't interest me enough to get me over the autism hill to want to be in a large group of people.

All my mom knows about Pokemon comes from the anime. So as you can imagine, she can only name Pikachu. My dad, on the other hand, I have no idea, he's definitely familiar with it since I bought pokemon cards and games for my birthday, but he has never really made a comment on it.

Overall, they seem mostly indifferent about it. They probably see it as a kid's thing, which isn't far from the truth...

My dad someones just randomly quotes the 2nd movie or sometimes the first to me for no reason. And then says 'they said the world will turn to ash but they meant Ash the character' like it's some sort of revelation.

My mom loves Chansey and was happy to see one in the last movie. It was the first time we watched the Pokemon anime in well over a decade.

My mum can probably name all of the kanto pokemon but beyond that she doesn't care about it. She knows I still like the games at least, but she was pretty astounded when Go came out and half the people at her job were playing it on her breaks.

When Pokemon first came out, my mom thought nothing of it other than just being a fad for me. As long as I behaved good and did what I was supposed to, it was fine. My dad on the other hand was very verbal against it. He use nag about me at me buying the cards and the games. He took me to see the first movie and when I say the guy was beyond pissed, he was beyond pissed lol. I'm hitting 30 soon but I still play the old games. I look forward to every gen to see what starters they come up with. I still have my cards from 1999. I actually watched the first seasons again for the first time in 20 years.
